Sulfur

Sulfur 80% SC (Sulphur Bahvaran) – non-systemic contact and fumigant fungicide and acaricide for powdery mildew and mite control on grapevine and other crops. 1L and 5L liquid formulation.

1000-5000 ml package
  • Sulfur (Sulphur) Behavaran
  • Non‑systemic fungicide and acaricide with protective contact and fumigant action, effective against powdery mildew on grapevine.

Mode of Action

  • Elemental sulfur on the plant surface is taken up into fungal cells, where it interferes with key enzymes in the mitochondrial respiratory chain and general metabolic processes, so spores cannot germinate or develop normally.
  • Sulfur particles can also convert to vapors (such as sulfur dioxide and related sulfur species) around the treated tissue; these gases penetrate fungal structures, disturb cell membranes and redox reactions, and ultimately stop growth and reproduction.

Uses

  • In other countries it is used to control scab, powdery mildews, brown rot, leaf spots, eriophyid mites, and spider mites on apple, pear, apricot, grape, strawberry, melon, cereals, beans, carrot, lettuce, tomato, and rose. The pre‑harvest interval (PHI) is 20 days. Mineral oils must not be used for 4 days before or after sulfur applications.
    • Grapevine – powdery mildew (surface): 2.5 L per 1000 L water

Product Diseases Consumption rate
Grapevine powdery mildew 2.5 L per 1000 L water

  • Wear protective clothing, chemical‑resistant gloves, goggles, and a mask during mixing and spraying to avoid skin, eye, and inhalation exposure.
  • Do not spray sulfur within 4 days before or after using mineral oils to prevent severe phytotoxicity on treated crops.
  • Avoid application during very hot weather (for example, above about 28–30°C) as the risk of leaf burn and crop damage increases under high temperature conditions.
  • Do not apply in strong wind or just before rain to reduce drift and wash‑off; ensure good coverage of foliage for effective control.
  • Keep the product in its original, tightly closed container in a cool, dry, well‑ventilated place away from food, feed, children, and animals.
  • In case of contact with skin or eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water; if inhaled or swallowed and discomfort occurs, seek medical advice and show the product label.
  • Sulfur is of low acute toxicity to mammals but can be harmful to aquatic organisms at high concentrations; avoid contamination of ponds, streams, and irrigation canals with spray solution or tank washings.
  • Non‑systemic and mainly contact/volatile action reduce long‑term residue buildup, yet repeated unnecessary applications may affect beneficial arthropods such as predatory mites.
  • Use within an integrated pest and disease management program, alternating with fungicides of different modes of action to reduce selection pressure on powdery mildew populations.
  • Do not exceed recommended doses or spray frequency to limit potential impacts on soil microorganisms and leaf surface microflora.
  • Collect and dispose of empty containers and product remains according to local regulations; do not burn or discard them near surface waters or wells.
