Spirodiclofen

Spirodiclofen 24% EC (Envidor) – selective contact acaricide and insecticide for controlling European red mite, two-spotted spider mite, pistachio psylla, and citrus rust mites on fruit trees and vegetables.

250 ml package
  • Non-systemic contact insecticide and acaricide effective against European red mite, two-spotted spider mite on apple, pistachio psylla, red and citrus rust mites.

Mode of Action

  • Selective, contact, non-systemic acaricide and insecticide from the tetronic acid group. It disrupts mite growth and development by inhibiting lipid synthesis.

Uses

  • Used internationally for controlling sucking pests such as whiteflies, aphids, mealybugs, and scales on vegetables, soy, pome and stone fruits, and citrus. Safe to ladybird beetles (Coccinellids) but harmful to predatory mites. The pre-harvest interval is 14 days.
  • Spirodiclofen is effective only on active eggs; it has no effect on overwintering eggs. Best applied in spring. It is rainfast once dried. Controls European red mite, two-spotted spider mite, citrus rust mite, red citrus mite, broad mite on beans and vegetables, pistachio psylla, and other mites on orchard and crop plants. For better efficiency, it is recommended to tank mix with soap solution.
  • Environmentally, it is highly toxic to aquatic life but does not affect beneficial insects like ladybird beetles, though it negatively impacts predatory mites.
Product Pest Consumption rate

  • Wear protective clothing, gloves, goggles, and respirator during mixing and application to avoid skin and eye contact.
  • Avoid application during windy conditions to prevent drift to non-target areas.
  • Do not apply during active flowering to protect pollinators; safe for ladybird beetles but harmful to predatory mites.
  • Observe a 14-day pre-harvest interval (PHI) before harvesting fruits, vegetables, or nuts.
  • Tank mix with foliar soap only for enhanced efficacy; test compatibility on a small area first.
  • Effective only on active mite eggs—do not use for overwintering eggs; apply in spring for best results.
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from food, feed, and water sources.
  • Highly toxic to aquatic organisms; avoid contamination of water bodies, streams, or ponds during application.
  • Low risk to beneficial insects like ladybird beetles but negatively impacts predatory mites—integrate with IPM practices.
  • Rainfast once dried, reducing runoff potential; apply during calm weather to minimize environmental exposure.
  • Selective mode of action (lipid synthesis inhibition) limits broad-spectrum effects on non-target arthropods.
  • Follow label rates strictly to prevent mite resistance development and maintain long-term efficacy.
