Mode of Action
Selective, contact, non-systemic acaricide and insecticide from the tetronic acid group. It disrupts mite growth and development by inhibiting lipid synthesis.
Uses
Used internationally for controlling sucking pests such as whiteflies, aphids, mealybugs, and scales on vegetables, soy, pome and stone fruits, and citrus. Safe to ladybird beetles (Coccinellids) but harmful to predatory mites. The pre-harvest interval is 14 days.
Spirodiclofen is effective only on active eggs; it has no effect on overwintering eggs. Best applied in spring. It is rainfast once dried. Controls European red mite, two-spotted spider mite, citrus rust mite, red citrus mite, broad mite on beans and vegetables, pistachio psylla, and other mites on orchard and crop plants. For better efficiency, it is recommended to tank mix with soap solution.
Environmentally, it is highly toxic to aquatic life but does not affect beneficial insects like ladybird beetles, though it negatively impacts predatory mites.
