  • The fungicide Mancozeb is one of the most widely used and effective protective fungicides from the dithiocarbamate group, which is available in the form of water-dispersible powder, granules and liquid on the market and is used in agriculture and horticulture to combat a wide range of fungal diseases. This poison has a special place in the agricultural industry due to its broad spectrum of action, suitable stability and affordable price.
How it works
  • Mancozeb covers the surface of the leaves with its coating properties and acts as a mechanical and chemical barrier, preventing the penetration of pathogenic components into the plant tissue.
  • At the cellular level of fungi, mancozeb disrupts lipid metabolism and reduces energy production (ATP) by inactivating enzymes involved in the respiratory cycle, especially enzymes containing sulfhydryl groups in amino acids. This disruption stops the growth, metabolism, and reproduction of fungi and prevents the development of the disease. The effect of the toxin is protective and has only a partial therapeutic effect.
Uses
  • Mancozeb is effective for the prevention and control of numerous fungal diseases such as blight (late blight), leaf spot, rusts, internal powdery mildew (especially false powdery mildew), black spot of apples, leaf and root rots, anthracnose, and seed-borne diseases. This fungicide is used in a variety of crops including vegetables, fruits, cereals, legumes, grapes, strawberries, and ornamental plants.
  • Usually, for foliar spraying, a dose of 2 to 3 kg per hectare is recommended. For seed disinfection, the dosage is between 3 and 6 g per kg of seed, depending on the type of seed and crop. The waiting period is generally 10 days or more, depending on the type of crop and weather conditions. The time of application is recommended before the onset of the disease or in the early stages of the disease for better effectiveness and reduced damage. The maximum number of sprayings in the spring season is about 3 to 4 times to prevent pest resistance.

  • A protective and covering structure that, in addition to preventing initial contamination, also prevents the spread of disease.
  • Can be used as seed disinfection, foliar spraying, and soil irrigation.
  • Relatively stable against rainfall and environmental conditions.
  • Broad spectrum of effect on a variety of fungi and seed-borne fungal pests.
  • Low toxicity compared to many systemic fungicides and environmental compatibility.
  • Possibility of combination and use with many agricultural pesticides and fertilizers.
  • The use of personal protective equipment (mask, gloves, goggles) is mandatory when spraying.
  • The poison is toxic to aquatic organisms and its entry into water sources must be prevented.
  • It is essential to observe the time interval between the last spraying and harvest to reduce the risk of residues.
  • To reduce the occurrence of resistance, it is recommended to use poisons with different mechanisms of action in an integrated control program.
  • Monitoring the quality and expiration date of the poison has a significant impact on its effectiveness.
