Ethion 47% EC is a non-systemic insecticide and acaricide with contact action, effective in controlling various scale insects and armored scales on fruit trees.

Mode of Action

An organophosphate insecticide and acaricide with ovicidal properties, commonly used in dormant-season spraying. It acts by inhibiting cholinesterase enzymes in the nervous system.

Uses

leafhoppers, and other sap-sucking pests in fruit trees, citrus, vineyards, vegetables, cotton, sorghum, and strawberries.
Dormant-season applications are typically carried out before bud break on fruit trees. Some early-ripening apple varieties (such as McIntosh) may be sensitive to phytotoxicity. Ethion is not compatible with alkaline products. The pre-harvest interval is 15 days.
Summer spraying targets the active mite stages, while winter applications affect the overwintering stages of certain mite species.
In dormant-season programs, it is commonly used at 0.2% together with 0.5% horticultural oil (winter oil) before bud break on fruit trees.
