- Clothodim is a selective and systemic herbicide from the DIM herbicides (cyclohexanediones) family that is used to control narrow-leaved weeds (cereals) in broadleaf crop fields.
- It is absorbed through the leaves and transported to the weed plant and transferred to the meristems. By inhibiting the ACCase enzyme, it stops the production of fatty acids and thus prevents cell growth. First, weed growth stops, and then yellowing, necrosis and death occur. The first symptoms are seen 3–7 days after spraying. Uses In target weeds (narrow-leaved): Echinochloa spp., wild oats, foxtails, Phalaris, rye, sedge (perennial), chicken and other wheat grasses, edible crops, soybeans, rapeseed, sugar beets, sunflowers, cotton, potatoes, legumes, vegetables, summer vegetables, orchards in non-fruiting years (with caution), in cereals (wheat, barley, corn) should not be used because it causes severe damage.
- Best time to use: 3–5 leaf stage of weeds Be sure to use with adjuvant oil (0.5–1 liter per hectare). There should be no rain for 6–8 hours after spraying.
- Clothodim lasts in the soil for about 4 weeks, so observing crop rotation is especially important for the wheat family.
- Due to its low solubility in water, this herbicide moves slowly in the plant and symptoms appear late.
- Rapid absorption and transfer to the root organs ensures effective control of perennial weeds.
- A humid environment increases the effect of the poison, and dry conditions reduce its effectiveness.
