Adjuvants are enhancing tools for pesticides and fertilizers that significantly increase spraying efficiency by improving adhesion, penetration, coverage, and reducing drift. Proper use of adjuvants leads to economic savings, increased productivity, reduced pesticide consumption, and environmental protection.

An adjuvant refers to substances added to pesticide solutions, fertilizers, or spray mixtures to increase their efficiency, stability, coverage, and penetration. Adjuvants themselves are not toxic, but they enhance the effectiveness of pesticides and fertilizers and prevent product waste.

In modern agriculture, using adjuvants is one of the essential tools for improving spraying efficiency and reducing pesticide consumption.

Mode of Action The role of adjuvants is purely physical and functional:

  • Reducing surface tension → Better leaf coverage

  • Reducing droplet drift → Increased spraying precision

  • Breaking down the waxy layer of the leaf or pest’s body → Greater penetration of the active ingredient

  • Creating a protective layer → Longer solution retention

  • Improving the mixing of pesticides → Uniform effect throughout the tank

For this reason, many pesticides do not achieve their full efficacy without adjuvants.

Applications

Behavaran adjuvants are specifically formulated for two types of applications: combination with herbicides and combination with insecticides.

  • The insecticide-specific adjuvant is derived from non-ionic surfactants and has spreading, wetting, and adhesion-increasing effects for pesticides on leaf surfaces.

  • The Behavaran adjuvant specifically for water-based herbicides is derived from alkyl aryl ethoxylated compounds and acts as a penetrant and efficacy enhancer for herbicidal pesticides.

Behavaran Adjuvant Usage Guide

Properties of non-ionic adjuvants or non-ionic surfactants include:

  • Increasing the absorption rate of pesticides and liquid fertilizers
  • Reducing the washing away of pesticides due to rainfall
  • Reducing the hydrophobicity (water repellency) of leaf surfaces, which leads to maximum spreading, uniform coverage, and reduced wastage of pesticide droplets
  • It also prevents the formation of droplets on leaves that can lead to leaf burn due to the concentration of sunlight.

  • Here is a quick review to confirm its accuracy and readability:
  • The dosage should be exactly according to the pesticide label or the recommendation of an expert.
  • Avoid using oil-based adjuvants on very hot days.
  • Some adjuvants should not be used with copper-based or alkaline pesticides.
  • Adjuvants pose significantly less risk compared to pesticides, but safety principles must still be observed:
  • Wear gloves, a mask, goggles, and work clothing.
  • Add the adjuvant to the tank at the final stage.
  • Perform a mixing test in small containers to prevent incompatibility.
  • Many adjuvants, especially plant-based ones, are low-risk and biodegradable.
  • Petroleum-based or chemical types should be used with caution.
  • Prevent the solution from entering surface waters.
  • Empty containers should be collected and disposed of according to local regulations.
